The Darwinian Tree of Right and Wrong (or, These Dinner Rolls are to DIE For!)

Remember Darwin’s TREE OF LIFE? At the base is bacteria- the first universal common ancestor- and then at the top is us humans and other things which live with us today like squirrels and humming birds and moose and cuttlefish and the dwarf globe blue spruce and Shia LaBeouf. In between are all of the creatures that we evolved from, like worms and fish and such. And maybe Shia LaBeouf again.

If you follow your own family line back through your parents and grandparents, all the way back to the bacteria, you will find a bunch of different species. In a nutshell, you will find bacteria, worms, fish, amphibians, lizards, mammals, primates, humans. That’s your long, long list of evolutionary grandparents,

Young Earth Creationism Vs Old Earth Creationism

OK, Atheists, you can take a day off. This one is about a family feud.

Young Earth Creationism essentially says that Genesis is correct as written and best interpreted merely as it is written. God made the heavens and the earth in an ordinary calendar week about 6,000 years ago. No Big Bang, no billions of years, no evolution. Adam and Eve and the Fall were real, as were Noah and the Flood.

Old Earth Creationism says that Big Bang is how God made the universe, and evolution (or something like it) is how he made life over the past 13 billion years. No DAYS of Creation. Probably no actual Adam and Eve. And no flood of Noah- or if so a small, local flood which we will CALL “universal” and swear we are not being sarcastic.

Old Earth Creationists start with modern science (and secular interpretations) and reinterpret the Bible accordingly. Young Earth Creationists start with the Bible and use it to understand modern science, both in terms of understanding observations, but also which interpretations to accept or reject.

In a nutshell:

Young Earth Creationists say the world, nature, and man are corrupted and put their trust in the Bible.

Old Earth Creationists say the Bible is corrupt and put their faith in the world, nature, and man.

Debates are like a nose: When you pick a side, consider what it is you are actually picking.

What am I asking you to consider? (or, Creation SCIENCE? Really?)

Iz He doing the SCIENCE?!?

I have recently discovered something akin to a unicorn- something I really didn’t think existed. I have found a YouTube channel of videos promoting the Flat Earth Model which  has videos as short as 4 minutes. These videos not only put forth arguments beyond name calling, but actually demonstrates its position with experiments and models.

“Do you SEE this? THIS is proof.”

To understand why this is shocking, all one needs to do is search YouTube for Flat Earth videos, and if you find what I have found, you will see that the average video promoting this model can condense a solid four minutes of argumentation into a three hour video. The majority of these videos involve a lengthy attempt to demonstrate that the producer of the video failed middle school science. Much of the time is spent calling NASA a hoax or other complimentary names.

For contrast, let me describe a different channel also promoting the Flat Earth Model. Also staggeringly short for a Flat earth Video, this one consists of video shots of the moon as seen during the day and the narrator of the video saying things like, “Do you see this? This is proof! This right here is proof that the moon is flat and the ball earth is a hoax. Look at this. I don’t know HOW you can see this and not realize that the earth is FLAT.” He really goes on and on like that for five minutes while we, the viewer look at the moon in the daytime sky and ask ourselves, “Am I seeing what he is seeing? Or does one of us need to be on some powerful medication? Maybe one of us already IS…”. Continue reading →

The Everyday Supernatural Norm

One of the arguments Atheists try to make against the existence of God is their seeming lack of experience with anything we might call “Supernatural.” God is not a man with a physical body who takes up a certain amount of space or displaces a certain volume of water when submerged. God is immaterial- but is that different from saying “imaginary?”

The Magic of Ordinary Pumpkins

In Cinderella, the Fairy God Mother turns a pumpkin into a coach, which is driven by six white horses who used to be mice. Or maybe they are mice who self identify as horses? I forget how it all goes down, but that it besides the point.

The point is, we consider it a great feat of magic that a Pumpkin can be turned into a coach. But is that the greatest act of pumpkin related magic? I suggest that it is not.

That’s still essentially true, only now Big Bang cosmologists are claiming that 95% of the “matter” is actually “DARK MATTER. It’s KIND OF like matter, only its invisible and in every way undetectable. Like the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
