Somehow the Gospel is like making cookies, and we learn the difference between substance and appearance- looking good vs actually being good. And we also see how adding good to bad doesn’t remove the bad. It requires starting over, which is why Jesus needs to forgive you for your sins, even if you are generally a good person.
